QMJHL: Moncton downs Quebec

Mark Barberio scored the decisive shootout goal for the Wildcats  onThursday as Moncton downed the Quebec Remparts 4-3 in the QMJHL.

With Quebec leading 3-2, Barberio also scored at 16:01 in the third period to force overtime.

Ted Stephens and Randy Cameron also scored for the Wildcats, who made ammends for a 7-0 drubbing the night prior at Chicoutimi. Ted Stephens scored the other shootout marker.

David Gilbert, Marc-Olivier Vallerand and Kelsey Tessier had goals for Quebec (29-20-1-3), with Tessier, who also counted a goal in shootout, getting his 28th of the year on a power play in the third period.

Elswhere it was: Saint John 4, Victoriaville  3.

At Quebec, Nicola Riopel made 38 saves for Moncton (19-27-2-7), while Jonathan Roy stopped 20 shots for the Remparts, who outshot the Wildcats 41-24.

Sea Dogs 4, Tigres 3

At Saint John, N.B., Ryan Sparling scored the eventual winner shorthanded in the third period as the Sea Dogs edged Victoriaville.

Michael Kirkpatrick, Payton Liske and Alexandre Picard-Hooper also netted goals for Saint John, which leads the East DIvision at 33-13-1-3.

Jason Demers led the Tigres (22-26-2-2) with a goal and two assists.
