ERIE, Pa. - Captain Zack Torquato scored his first two goals of the season as the Erie Otters beat the Niagara IceDogs 4-2 in Ontario Hockey League action Wednesday.

Justin Hodgman and Brandon Biggers also scored for Erie (3-6-1-0), which snapped a five-game losing streak.

Andrew Agozzino had both goals for Niagara (3-4-1-3).

Jaroslav Janus needed to make only 12 saves for the win as the Otters outshot the IceDogs 31-14.

John Cullen stopped 27 shots for Niagara.

Agozzino opened the scoring on the game's first shot, giving the IceDogs a 1-0 lead just one minute and seven seconds into the game.

Torquato tied the game when Tyler Hostetter's pinpoint pass sent him on a breakaway.

Hodgman gave Erie a 2-1 lead with just 21 seconds to go in the first period.

Agozzino tied the score at 2-2 on a power play with 4:50 left in the second period. But the Otters' OHL-best penalty kill (89.6 per cent) silenced the IceDogs' potent power play the rest of the game.

Biggers' wrist shot slipped past Cullen's blocker for a 3-2 Otters lead with 4:37 left in regulation.

Torquato scored into an empty net with 22 seconds left to seal the win.
