EDMONTON - With no other teams in action on Sunday, Calgary's 7-2 victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings vaulted the Hitmen into first place in the Western Hockey League.
Early in the second, Brandon Kozun scored the game-winner for Calgary on a wrap-around. It was his team-leading 10th goal of the season.
Brett Sonne opened the scoring for the Hitmen (10-3-0-0), burying a rebound off Oil Kings goalie Cam Lanigan's right pad on a delayed penalty call.
Michael Stone scored twice, while Paul Postma, Kyle Bortis and Brendan Rowinsky also scored for Calgary.
Tomas Vincour and Logan Proulx replied for Edmonton (5-8-1-0).
Martin Jones stopped 27 shots for the Hitmen, while Lanigan made 32 saves for the Oil Kings.
