Jordan Eberle will receive treatment for two days on his hip flexor strain and will leave on Thursday for Team Canada's selection camp, according to the Regina Leader Post. Eberle will be evaluated by Team Canada doctors to determine his readiness for camp.
The Regina Pats forward suffered the injury during his team's win over the Red Deer Rebels on Sunday and missed almost the entire third period. He has 23 goals in 33 games in the WHL this season.
In the event that the 18-year-old Eberle cannot play for Team Canada, there is no guarantee that they will add another body to replace him, TSN has learned.
Hockey Canada invited a larger group to camp than usual - 10 forwards and seven defencemen on each of the two teams that will scrimmage - as injury insurance.
