The Kitchener Rangers announced Wednesday that the team has traded defenceman Ben Shutron, centre Scott Timmins and goaltender Josh Unice to the Windsor Spitfires in exchange for goaltender Brandon Maxwell, forward Jacob Lalonde and Kitchener's third round pick in 2009, Sault Ste Marie's second round pick in 2010, and Windsor's second round pick in 2011.

Maxwell, 17, is a Cambridge native and is currently playing with the U.S. U18 team in the NTDP in Ann Arbor Michigan and will complete his commitment at the end of the current season.

Lalonde hails from Sudbury and is an overage forward that joined the Spitfires after spending three years with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

A Windsor source tells TSN that the deal does not alter the Spitfires interest in trading for John Tavares and it's believed the Spitfires have 'sweetened' their offer to the Generals.
