KITCHENER, Ont. - Superstar John Tavares had four goals and two assists as the London Knights hammered the Kitchener Rangers 9-0 in Ontario Hockey League action Tuesday.
Tavares, the OHL scoring leader with 74 points in 39 games, has 13 goals and seven assists in seven games since joining the Knights form the Oshawa Generals.
Nazem Kadri added a goal and three assists for the Midwest Division-leading Knights (36-10-0-2), while Steven Tarasuk, Phillip McRae, Daniel Erlich and Jared Knight also scored.
Trevor Cann made 21 saves for the shutout.
Parker Van Buskirk started in goal for the Rangers (19-27-1-1) but was pulled after allowing four goals on 10 shots. Mike Morrison didn't fare much better, allowing 15 goals on 20 shots in relief.
In other action:
Eric O'Dell scored two goals in the third period, including the game-winner, as the Sudbury Wolves beat the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 5-4 in Ontario Hockey League action Tuesday.
Marcus Foligno, John McFarland and John Kurtz also scored for Sudbury, while Matt Dias added two assists.
Jordan Nolan scored twice while Matthew Lyall and Michael Quesnele added singles for Sault Ste. Marie.
Andrew Loverock made 35 saves for the Wolves (20-22-2-4) while Cody St. Jacques stopped 35 shots for the Greyhounds (16-30-2-1).
