ERIE, Penn. - The Erie Otters are headed to the Ontario Hockey League playoffs for the first time in four years following a 3-1 win against the Owen Sound Attack on Wednesday night.
Shawn Szydlowski's power-play goal with just over six minutes left in the third period snapped a 1-1 tie, with Brandon Biggers' empty-netter sealing the win for the Otters (31-28-3-1), who also snapped a three-game losing streak.
The Otters also gained sole possession of the seventh spot in the Western Conference, two points ahead of the Attack (25-24-7-7).
Erie trailed 1-0 entering the third but Ryan O'Reilly's short-handed goal at the 7:30 mark pulled them even.
