OHL: Belleville, Brampton both win to stay two points apart

Cody Hodgson had two goals and two assists, leading the Brampton Battalion to a comfortable 7-2 win over the Oshawa Generals in Ontario Hockey League action Wednesday.

Anthony Peluso also scored twice for the Battalion, which jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first two minutes 17 seconds of the first period and never looked back.

Evgeny Grachev added a goal and two assists, while Matt Kang had a goal and an assist for Brampton (45-19-1-1).

Brett Parnham scored both for the Generals, giving him 50 goals for the season.

Craig Moore scored the other goal for Brampton, which led 7-2 before coasting through a scoreless third period.

Elsewhere in the OHL it was: Guelph 6 Kitchener 2 and Belleville 4 Peterborough 0.

At Oshawa, Ont., Thomas McCollum made 25 saves in goal for the Battalion, while Michael Zador was pulled by the Generals after allowing four goals on 14 shots. Neil Conway allowed three goals on 12 shots.

Storm 6 Rangers 2

At Guelph, Ont., Michael Latta had two goals and an assist as the Storm beat Kitchener.

Denis Hollenstein also scored twice while Josh Shalla and Taylor Beck added singles for Guelph (34-25-4-3).

Jeff Skinner and Robert Bortuzzo replied for Kitchener (25-36-3-2).

Bulls 4 Petes 0

At Belleville, Ont., Mike Murphy made 38 saves as the Bulls blanked Peterborough.

Luke Pither scored twice, Bryan Cameron had a goal and two assists and Nick Palmieri also scored for Belleville (45-17-2-2), which maintained a two-point lead over Brampton atop the OHL Eastern Conference standings.

Jason Missiaen stopped 34 shots for Peterborough (27-36-1-2).
