QUEBEC -- Thanks to Matthew Pistilli, the Shawinigan Cataractes have home-ice advantage.

Pistilli's second goal late in the second period was the eventual winner as Shawinigan edged the Quebec Remparts 4-3 on Saturday night to even the semifinal series at one game apiece in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff action.

Pistilli also had an assist for his second three-point game of the playoffs. Last season, the Montreal native was a key part of the Gatineau Olympiques' championship run, with 11 goals and 28 points in 19 playoff games.

The Cataractes finished second in the league with 105 points in the regular season, but were relegated to fifth place -- behind third-place Quebec (101 points) -- for the playoffs because they didn't win their division. Their victory on Saturday earns them a split of the first two games in Quebec City.

After an evenly matched opening period, Jonathan Audy-Marchessault scored for the Remparts 33 seconds into the second to tie the game at 3-3. Shawinigan took control after that, outshooting Quebec 25-14 in the final 40 minutes.

Maxime Macenauer assisted on both of Pistilli's goals and set up Gabriel Lemieux's first-period marker to total three helpers for the Cataractes. Maxime Legault had the other Shawinigan goal, opening the scoring five minutes into the first period.

Audy-Marchessault and Marc-Olivier Vallerand both had a goal and an assist for the Remparts, while Mikhail Stefanovich scored his 11th goal of the post-season.

Timo Pielmeier made 19 saves for the Cataractes. Quebec netminder Charles Lavigne stopped 30 shots.

The series shifts to Shawinigan, Que., for Game 3 on Tuesday and Game 4 on Wednesday.
