Eberle, Weal and Leffler combine for six points vs. Broncos

Linemates Jordan Eberle, Jordan Weal and Brett Leffler combined for six points on Friday night as the Regina Pats bucked the Swift Current Broncos 6-1 in Western Hockey League action.

Regina (3-4-0-0) had a 2-0 lead before the game was six minutes old thanks to power-play goals from Leffler and Matt Strueby.

Killian Hutt, acquired Monday from the Portland Winterhawks, added another goal for Regina with a minute to go in the first to give the Pats a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Elsewhere in the WHL it was: Red Deer 6 Brandon 3; Edmonton 3 Moose Jaw 2; Calgary 2 Kootenay 1; Prince Albert 2 Saskatoon 1 (SO); Kelowna 6 Chilliwack 4; Portland 5 Spokane 3; Lethbridge 5 Prince George 2; Kamloops 2 Vancouver 1 (SO); and Seattle 1 Tri-City 0.

At Regina, midway through the second, Dillon Wagner got the Broncos (2-3-0-0) on the board with his first of the season but the Pats answered back with two more, one each from Kyle Mulder and Eberle.

Eberle, who returned from the NHL's Edmonton Oilers on Monday, added another in the third to make it a 6-1 game. Eberle, Weal and Leffler have now combined for nine goals and 15 points in their last two games.

Dawson Guhle made 23 saves for Regina, while Broncos netminder Morgan Clark allowed five goals on 27 shots in the first two periods before being replaced by Alexandre Sirard, who stopped nine of 10.

At Brandon, Man, rookie Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored his first Western Hockey League hat trick as Red Deer Rebels downed the Wheat Kings.

Oil Kings 3 Warriors 2

At Edmonton, the Oil Kings' Cam Lanigan made 27 saves to earn the win over Moose Jaw.

Hitmen 2 Ice 1

At Cranbrook, B.C., Joel Broda scored his second goal of the season and goaltender Michael Snider stopped 39 shots as Calgary improved to 5-0 with a win over Kootenay.

Raiders 2 Blades 1 (SO)

At Prince Albert, Sask., Ryan Harrison scored the lone goal in the shootout as the Raiders beat Saskatoon.

Rockets 6 Bruins 4

At Kelowna, Kyle St. Denis had a hat trick as the Rockets beat the Chilliwack.

Winterhawks 5 Chiefs 3

At Spokane, Wash., Nino Niederreiter scored twice for Portland as the Winterhawks beat the Chiefs.

Hurricanes 5 Cougars 2

At Prince George, B.C., the Lethbridge Hurricanes went 4-for-10 on the power play in their win over the Cougars.

Blazers 2 Giants 1 (SO)

At Kamloops, B.C., Shayne Wiebe and Jimmy Bubnick scored shootout goals as the Kamloops Blazers beat Vancouver.

Thunderbirds 1 Americans 0

At Kent, Wash., Calvin Pickard made 57 saves for his first shutout of the season as Seattle beat Tri-City.
