All the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds needed to stop their six-game losing streak was to get a little physical.
T.J. Battani's scored two goals, including a short-handed marker, to lead the Greyhounds as they beat the Erie Otters 5-1 Saturday night.
In addition to stopping their slide, the win moved Sault Ste. Marie into third place in the Ontario Hockey League's West Division.
The game was physical, with 21 penalties handed out including three fights. A line brawl late in the first period had goalies Robin Lehner and Ramis Sadikov earn game misconducts. The Otters' Shane Owen and Sault Ste. Marie's Bryce O'Hagan replaced them.
The Greyhounds' Brian Shaw squared off against former teammate Michael Liambas in the third, maintaining the evening's rough tone. Liambas fought in the first and last periods of the game.
Elsewhere in the OHL it was: Barrie 3 Brampton 1; Kitchener 4 Owen Sound 2; London 4 Guelph 3; and Plymouth 6 Belleville 1.
At Erie, Pa., Jake Carrick and Carson Dubchak each had a goal and an assist for Sault Ste. Marie (8-5-1) while Brett Thompson also scored.
Defenceman Brett Cook scored the lone goal for Erie (4-6-3) on the power play.
After Lehner's expulsion, O'Hagan stopped 23 of 24 shots and won his fifth game of the season. Owen did not fare as well substituting for Sadikov, as he only managed 18 saves.
Colts 3 Battalion 1
At Barrie, Ont., Peter Di Salvo stopped 40 of 41 shots, including 19 in the third period as the Colts held off Brampton.
Stefan Della Rovere, David Mazurek and Taylor Carnevale scored for Barrie (9-4-1).
Scott Tanski had the lone reply for the Battalion (5-6-1), while rookie netminder Jacob Riley made 31 saves in his OHL debut.
Rangers 4 Attack 2
At Owen Sound, Ont., Jeff Skinner scored the winner and an empty-net goal to lead Kitchener over the Attack.
Captain Dan Kelly and Shane Prince both had goals for the Rangers (8-1-3) before Skinner struck twice in the third. Mavric Parks made 34 saves to earn his fourth win of the season.
Milan Doczy and Marcus Carroll had markers for Owen Sound (4-9-3), while Scott Stajcer stopped 45 shots.

At Plymouth, Mich., Tyler Seguin led the way once again with two goals and two assists as the Whalers hammered Belleville.
Newly-acquired Josh Brittain scored his first goal for Plymouth (9-5-0) after being picked up from the Barrie Colts on Friday. Tyler J. Brown, Josh Bemis and rookie Austin Mattson also scored.
Adam Payerl scored the lone goal for the Bulls (4-9-1), who got a 30-save outing from rookie goalie Tyson Teichmann, their top pick from the 2009 OHL draft.
