Simon Lacroix is doing his best to make a positive impression on the NHL.

The Val-d'Or defenceman had a career-best four points to lead the Foreurs to a 5-4 win over the Victoriaville Tigres on Wednesday night in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Lacroix was a seventh-round pick of the Islanders in 2007, but wasn't signed and re-entered the draft in 2009. He wasn't selected, though he accepted an invitation to rookie camp with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

With a goal and three assists Wednesday, the 20-year-old is enjoying his finest junior season so far, ranking among the leaders in scoring among QMJHL defencemen with 19 points (five goals, 14 assists) in 18 games.

His fifth goal of the season on a power play 1:58 into the first period tied the game 1-1, and Keven Guerette-Charland and Marco Sandella added man-advantage goals to give the Foreurs (6-11-2) a 3-1 lead through 20 periods.

Samuel Morneau scored twice -- including a short-handed goal midway through the second period -- to pace Val-d'Or.

In Wednesday's other QMJHL game, it was Cape Breton 3 Acadie-Bathurst 1.

At Val-d'Or, Que., Yannick Dube, Jonathan Bonneau, Tomas Kubalik and Phillip Danault replied for the Tigres (10-7-1), who saw their three-game losing streak come to an end.

Jacob Gervais-Chouinard earned the win with a 27-save performance for Val-d'Or.

Kevin Poulin turned aside 28 shots in defeat for Victoriaville.

Screaming Eagles 3 Titan 1

At Bathurst, N.B., Christopher Holden made 19 saves as Cape Breton beat the Titan.

Maximilien Le Sieur, Nick MacNeil and Stephen Horyl scored for the Screaming Eagles (10-6-3).

Taylor Lambke had the lone goal for Acadie-Bathurst (7-10-3).
