The Vancouver Giants found the net early and often Sunday.
Lane Scheidl led a balanced attack with a pair of goals as the Giants cruised to an 8-2 win over the Chilliwack Bruins in Western Hockey League action.
J.T. Barnett, Cass Mappin, Milan Kytnar, Brendan Gallagher, Sebastian Svednsen and Craig Cunningham added singles for Vancouver (11-4-3), while Jamie Tucker only needed 19 saves to record the victory.
Ryan Howse and Brandon Manning scored for Chilliwack (7-7-4). Goaltender Mark Friesen made 28 saves in the loss.
Vancouver got to off to a quick start in the first. David Musil ripped a point shot that was tipped in by Scheidl just 98 seconds into the game.
At the 2:08 mark of the second, Cunningham gained control of the puck and threw it at the net where Barnett scored his 12th of the year.
Elsewhere in the WHL it was: Spokane 3 Portland 0; Saskatoon 3 Swift Current 1; Kooteney 1 Seattle 0 (OT); and Everett 2 Edmonton 1 (SO).
At Vancouver, Mappin made it 3-0 when he drove past a defender and jammed the puck past Friesen at 5:38 of the second.
Lance Bouma had a great chance to make increase the lead after hitting the post on a breakaway. He was awarded a penalty shot on the play, but the Giants' captain was unable to beat Friesen one-on-one.
Bouma helped make it 4-0 when he fed a great pass to Kytnar, who scored just a minute into the third.
Chilliwack go on the board just 53 seconds later when Howse was left alone in front of the Vancouver net, beating Tucker at 1:57.
Gallagher helped Vancouver regain the four-goal cushion two minutes later with a backhander.
The onslaught continued when Svendsen got a stick on the puck in a goal-mouth scramble at 4:57.
Manning scored at 10:05 to make it 6-2.
Cunningham then finished off a pretty tic-tac-toe goal, from Gallagher and Nathan Burns at 15:50 on the power play.
A bouncing puck would find its way into the net in the final minute of play, with Scheidl getting credit for his second of the game.
Chiefs 3 Winter Hawks 0
At Portland, Ore., James Reid made 34 saves for Spokane as the Chiefs shut out the Winter Hawks 3-0.
Spokane (7-6-1) got goals from Stefan Ulmer, Kyle Beach, and Tyler Johnson. Mitch Wahl and Blake Gal each had two assists.
Portland (13-6) killed off a 5-on-3 power play early in the first period, but failed to score on any of its power-play chances, finishing 0-for-4.

At Swift Current, Sask., Steven Stanford made 25 saves as Saskatoon downed the Broncos.
Jyri Niemi, Travis Toomey and Gaelan Patterson scored for Saskatoon (13-3-2).
Michael Stickland replied on the power play for Swift Current (9-8-1).

At Cranbrook, B.C., Jesse Ismond scored the overtime winner as Kootney defeated Seattle.
Dominik Pacovsky fed the puck to middle slot and Ismond fired a one-time slapshot that went through Calvin Pickard's legs 3:54 into overtime.
Todd Matthews made 24 saves for his third career shutout for the Ice (7-11-0).
Pickard stopped 33 saves for the Thunderbirds (4-11-3).

Silvertips 2 Oil Kings 1 (SO)
At Edmonton, Kellan Tochkin scored the shootout winner as Everett edged the Oil Kings.
Kent Simpson came out on top of a goaltender duel, making 37 saves for Everett (9-4-0) while at the other end Cam Lanigan stopped 38.
Tochkin opened the scoring at 9:29 in the first to give the Silvertips a 1-0 lead.
