QMJHL: Lessard gives Acadie-Bathurst win over Cape Breton

The Titan continue to excel in the skills competition.

Jonathan Lessard scored twice and added the shootout winner as the Acadie-Bathurst Titan edged the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 4-3 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Saturday night.

This is the second game in a row that the Titan have won in the shootout. Acadie-Bathurst beat the Chicoutimi Sagueneens 5-4 on Remi Blanchard's one-on-one goal Friday night.

Acadie-Bathurst's games have gone to the shootout five times this season, with the Titan winning four of those games.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was Shawinigan 3 Montreal 1; P.E.I. 3 Chicoutimi 2; Drummondville 5 Halifax 3; and Baie-Comeau 4 Rimouski 1.

At Bathurst, N.B., Cameron Critchlow scored in regulation for Acadie-Bathurst (10-14-3).

Nick MacNeil, Stephen Horyl, and Patrick Lapostolle scored for Cape Breton (14-8-5).

Cataractes 3 Junior 1

At Verdun, Que., Toni Ritter scored the eventual game winner as Shawinigan handled Montreal.

Pierre-Alexandre Vandall opened scoring for the Cataractes (12-10-3), and Michael Bournival added an empty-net goal.

Nicolas Chouinard was the lone scorer for the Junior (12-13-1).

Rocket 3 Sagueneens 2

At Charlottetown, P.E.I., Brandon MacLean had a goal and an assist as the Rocket edged Chicoutimi.

Jeremi Janneteau and Eric Bouchard also scored for P.E.I. (12-9-3).

Jacob Lagace had a marker for the Sagueneens (11-9-5), while Nicolas Deschamps had a short-handed goal.

Voltigeurs 5 Mooseheads 3

At Drummondville, Que., Sean Couturier's hat trick led the Voltigeurs as they topped Halifax.

Philippe Bergeron and Marc-Olivier Vachon also scored for Drummondville (20-4-2).

Gerrad Grant scored twice for the Mooseheads (5-19-2), while Charles Bety also tallied.

Drakkar 4 Oceanic 1

At Baie-Comeau. Que., Marc-Olivier Mimar scored twice and added an assist as the Drakkar stunned Rimouski.

Gabriel Bourque also had a pair of goals and an assist for Baie-Comeau (7-16-3).

Mathieu Loisel was the lone scorer for the Oceanic (12-12-3).
