WHL: Eakin and Dowling score two each as Broncos best Ice

Cody Eakin and Justin Dowling thought they'd put on a show Saturday night.

Both Eakin and Dowling had two goals each as the Swift Current Broncos beat the Kootenay Ice 6-2 in Western Hockey League action Saturday night.

Eakin currently leads the league in scoring with 24 goals. This season's output has already matched Eakin's scores last year.

Dowling has 15 goals and 19 assists, on pace to surpass his career high 66 points from last season.

Elsewhere in the WHL it was Brandon 5 Moose Jaw 4 (SO); Red Deer 3 Spokane 2; Kamloops 4 Chilliwack 3 (OT); Kelowna 2 Prince George 0; Vancouver 7 Portland 3; Everett 4 Seattle 1; and Regina 7 Tri-City 1.

At Kootenay, B.C., Swift Current (13-11-2) also got goals from Taylor Vause and Stepan Novotny.

Matt Fraser and James Martin both scored for Kootenay (11-13-2).


Wheat Kings 5 Warriors 4 (SO)

At Moose Jaw, Sask., Jay Fehr scored the shootout winner as Brandon beat the Warriors.

Toni Rajala scored twice for Brandon (16-10-2), while Scott Glennie and Matt Calvert also had goals.

Antonin Honejsek, Kevin Smith, Cody Smuk and Brendan Rowinski tallied for Moose Jaw (15-9-2).


Rebels 3 Chiefs 2

At Red Deer, Alta., Nathan Green's goal was the winner as the Rebels edged Spokane.

Adam Kambeitz and Landon Ferraro also scored for Red Deer (12-12-0).

Tyler Johnson notched both goals for Spokane (13-8-1).


Blazers 4 Bruins 3 (SO)

At Chilliwack, B.C., Shayne Wiebe scored the shootout winner as Kamloops beat the Bruins.

Tyler Shattock, C.J. Stretch and Tyler Hansen scored in regulation for Kamloops (11-13-3).

Brandon Manning, Jamie Crooks and Roman Horak replied for Chilliwack (11-12-5).


Rockets 2 Cougars 0

At Prince George, B.C., Adam Brown made 25 saves to earn his 12th victory and third shutout of the season and back Kelowna to a win over the Cougars.

Kyle St. Denis and Cody Chikie scored for Kelowna (12-13-1).

Alex Wright took the loss for the Cougars (4-18-2), facing 32 shots.


Giants 7 Winterhawks 3

At Vancouver, Brendan Gallagher and Neil Manning each had two goals, leading Vancouver to a win over Portland.

Gallagher added an assist, while Craig Cunningham had a goal and three helpers in the victory. Lance Bouma and Sebastian Svendsen also scored for the Giants (16-8-3).

Ty Rattie, Luke Walker, and Riley Boychuk had goals for the Winterhawks (16-10-0).


Silvertips 4 Thunderbirds1

At Kent, Wash., Everett exploded in the second period for three goals to overtake Seattle.

Shane Harper scored twice for Everett (14-7-1), while Tyler Maxwell and Chris Langkow also tallied.

Prab Rai was the lone scorer for Seattle (9-14-4).


Pats 7 Americans 1

At Kennewick, Wash., Jordan Eberle had one goal and three assists as Regina rolled Tri-City.

Garrett Mitchell and Jordan Weal each had a pair of goals for Regina (13-11-3), while Brett Leffler and Colton Teubert also scored.

Sergei Drozd scored the lone goal for the Americans (18-6-0).
