David Cliche gave the Baie-Comeau Drakkar a brief glimmer of hope before the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies took it all away.
Rouyn-Noranda scored four times in less than two minutes as part of a 9-2 blowout against the Drakkar on Saturday in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
After Cliche scored a power-play goal early in the third period to cut Baie-Comeau's deficit to 4-2, the Huskies responded with four goals in one minute 46 seconds. Jean-Sebastien Berube and Gabriel Levesque scored power-play goals 29 seconds apart. Fifty seconds later, Alexandre Mallet added another and Dmitri Kostromitin scored his second of the game 28 seconds after that.
Rouyn-Noranda (17-12-3) also scored nine goals against the Drakkar on Friday in the first half of a dominant back-to-back sweep.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Shawinigan 4 Montreal 3; Quebec 4 Halifax 2; and P.E.I. at Lewiston.
At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Philippe Cornet had a goal and four assists, Jeff Desjardins and Nicolas Deslauriers had a goal and an assist each and Sean Girard also scored for the Huskies. Jerome Gauthier-Leduc and Levesque both had three assists.
Marc-Olivier Mimar had the other goal for Baie-Comeau (7-18-3).
Mickael Audette made 18 saves for Rouyn-Noranda, while Drakkar netminder Simon Giroux stopped 28 shots.

At Shawinigan, Que., Maxime Legault scored the game-winner with 22 seconds remaining as the Cataractes came back to down Montreal.
Dave Labrecque scored the tying goal midway through the third period, while Nicolas Larocque-Marcoux and Charles-Olivier Roussel also scored for Shawinigan (14-10-3).
