QMJHL: Rimouski come all the way back to beat Shawinigan

Alexis Loiseau's shootout goal completed the rally as the Rimouski Oceanic defeated the host Shawinigan Cataractes 4-3 on Saturday afternoon in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

The Oceanic (2-0-0) trailed 3-0 midway through the second period, but goals from Peter Trainor, Loiseau and Francis Beauvillier tied the game and forced overtime.

The shootout was scoreless through three rounds before Loiseau scored the winner in the fourth.

Danny Sylvestre, Peter Sakaris and Dylan Labbe each scored for the Cataractes (0-1-1) while JC Campagna chipped in with two assists.

Philippe Desrosiers started in goal for Rimouski but was pulled midway through the second period after allowing three goals on eight shots. Carl Hozjan came on in relief and picked up the victory by stopping all 19 shots he faced.

Shawingian goaltender Marvin Cupper made 38 saves, and earned the game's first star, despite picking up the loss.

The Oceanic went 1 for 5 on the power play while Shawinigan went 2 for 6.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Chicoutimi 6, Gatineau 0; Rouyn-Noranda 2, Victoriaville 1 and Blainville-Boisbriand 3, Val-d'Or 2.

At Shawinigan, Que., Labbe opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 11:08 of the first period.

Sylvestre scored 1:37 into the second period to give the Cataractes a two-goal lead and Sakaris added another power-play goal at 6:21 to make it 3-0 and force Desrosiers from Rimouski's net.

Trainor put the Oceanic on the board at 9:54 to make it 3-1 Shawinigan after 40 minutes of play.

Loiseau made it a one-goal game when he scored on the power play at 7:49 of the third period and Beauvillier scored at 16:49 to tie the game and force overtime.

At Saguenay, Que., Christopher Gibson stopped all 31 shots he faced and six Chicoutimi players recorded a multi-point game, including Guillaume Cloutier who had three assists, as the Saugueneens (1-1-0) blanked Gatineau (0-0-2).

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Sven Andrighetto scored two goals, both on the power play, and Robin Gusse turned aside 21-of-22 shots as the Huskies (1-1-0) edged Victoriaville (0-1-1).

Armada 3 Foreurs 2

At Val-d'Or, Que., Christian Marti broke a 2-2 tie with just 14 seconds remaining in the third period and Storm Phaneuf made 20 saves as Blainville-Boisbriand (2-0-0) downed the Foreurs (1-1-0).
