Scoring four unanswered goals wasn't enough for the Spokane Chiefs to win -- they needed three more late in the third to beat the Prince Albert Raiders.

Mike Aviani had a hat trick and the Chiefs blew past the Raiders 7-4 in Western Hockey League action Tuesday.

Aviani added an assist for a four-point night, while Liam Stewart, Collin Valcourt, Connor Chartier and Todd Fiddler also scored for Spokane (20-7-1).

Dakota Conroy had two goals for the Eastern Conference-leading Raiders (20-9-2), while Reid Gardiner and Austin Daae added singles.

Elsewhere in the WHL it was: Calgary 6, Kootenay 1; Kamloops 2, Swift Current 1; Portland 7, Everett 5; and Prince George 2, Moose Jaw 1.

At Prince Albert, Sask., the Raiders and Chiefs traded power-play goals late in the first.

Gardiner gave the Raiders a short-lived lead at 16:10 before Aviani's first goal at 17:27 of the period.

Aviani added his second 4:49 into the second period before Fiddler scored at 10:37. Then Aviani beat Raiders goaltender Luke Siemens for the hat trick at 12:56 and Spokane had a 4-1 lead.

But Prince Albert tied the game on a scoring run of their own.

Daae cut the lead to two late in the second period, then Conroy scored on the power play just 44 seconds into the third to trim Spokane's lead to one.

Conroy's second at 7:26 tied the game, but that's where the Raiders' offence ended and Spokane's was revived.

Valcourt scored at 16:57, Stewart added another at 17:35 and Chartier dumped a short-handed goal into an empty net in the dying seconds to complete the win.

Chiefs goaltender Eric Williams made 24 saves, while at the other end Siemens stopped 21 shots.
