He may be three years away from the National Hockey League, but Connor McDavid's name is already drawing endorsement appeal.

SportsBusiness Journal reported Monday that Reebok's CCM Hockey brand is close to signing the 15-year-old junior hockey phenom to a multi-year contract.

If completed, McDavid would be the youngest-ever hockey player to endorse Reebok and would be touted as the most significant hockey signing for the company since 17-year-old Sidney Crosby joined with them in 2005.

"We want to align with the best in the world, and we believe Connor McDavid is in that class," Reebok CCM vice president of global marketing Glen Thornborough told SportsBusiness Journal. "I won't get into the terms of it, but it would obviously extend into when and if he is in the National Hockey League."

McDavid, who has 17 goals and 37 points in 32 games with the Ontario Hockey League's Erie Otters, is already pegged as the top pick in the 2015 NHL draft.

He was chosen as the first pick overall by Erie after the OHL granted him 'exceptional player' status so he could be drafted into the major junior hockey league a year earlier.
