David Broll had a goal and an assist as the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds downed the host Ottawa 67's 4-1 on Thursday in Ontario Hockey League play.

Broll, a 2010 draft pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs, has scored three goals and eight points in his last five outings and is on pace to crush his career-high numbers from two seasons ago when he split time between the Greyhounds and Erie Otters.

In 39 games this season, Broll has already tied his career high of 13 goals. He also has 33 points, which is one off his best set in 2010.

Dylan Staples also had a goal and an assist for the Greyhounds (20-17-2) while Mark Petaccio and Ryan Sproul each scored once.

Sault Ste Marie's head coach Sheldon Keefe, who had spent the past six seasons coaching in the Central Canada Hockey League with the Pembroke Lumber Kings in the Ottawa Valley, was pleased with how his team played in his return to the Ottawa area.

"It was nice that the team responded with an effort like that." Keefe said. "It meant a lot to me to come back and win with so many family and friends."

Tyler Graovac scored the lone goal for the 67's (11-26-3), who now sit one point behind the Peterborough Petes for last place in the East Division.

Matt Murray made 21 saves for his 16th win of the season as Clint Windsor, the much busier of the two goaltenders, stopped 47-of-51 shots in defeat.

Sault Ste. Marie went 1 for 4 on the power play while Ottawa failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the OHL, it was: Oshawa 4, Brampton 1; Barrie 4, Niagara 1 and Peterborough 3, Belleville 0.

At Ottawa, Petaccio opened the scoring for Sault Ste. Marie just 1:38 into the opening period.

Through 40 minutes of action, the Greyhounds dominated the shot clock 36-13, however Windsor kept it a one-goal game heading into the final period.

Windsor could only hold Sault Ste. Marie off the board for so long though and Sproul made it 2-0 with a power-play goal 2:25 into the third period.

Broll and Staples added goals less than three minutes apart before Graovac put the 67's on the board with a short-handed goal at 9:28.

At Brampton, Ont., Will Petschenig's first-career OHL goal served as the winner and Daniel Altshuller turned aside 16 shots as Oshawa (22-14-3) beat the Battalion (19-15-6) for its first win in three contests.

Colts 4 IceDogs 1

At St. Catharines. Ont., Andreas Athanasiou had a goal and two assists and Josh MacDonald scored twice as Barrie (25-11-1) downed Niagara (22-15-2) to move five points ahead of them in the Central-Division standings.

Petes 3 Bulls 0

At Peterborough, Ont., Andrew D'Agostini made 43 saves for his first shutout of the season and Alan Quine had a goal and an assist as the Petes (11-24-4) blanked Belleville (21-12-5), which have lost twice to Peterborough this week.
