OTTAWA (CIS) – Jennifer Duff, a soccer player from Concordia University, and Colin Behenna, a hockey player from the University of Waterloo, were named the CIS female and male athletes of the week on Wednesday.

Duff, a fourth-year urban planning student from Moncton, N.B., scored five of the Stingers' six goals last weekend, including both game-winners, as Concordia stayed in the hunt for a playoff spot thanks to a pair of shutout victories against Bishop's, 4-0, and UQAM, 2-0. The forward, who was named player of the match following both contests, registered a hat trick in Friday's road win over the Gaiters and then accounted for all the scoring against the visiting Citadins on Sunday. With two games remaining in league play, the Stingers (6-3-3) sit in fifth place in the RSEQ standings, only one point back of the fourth and final post-season berth.

UNB swimmer Danielle Losier, RMC soccer player Mireille Musca and Alberta rugby player Paige Farries were also nominated for the women's award.

Behenna, a first-year math and business student from Waterloo, was the hero on consecutive nights last weekend as he helped the Warriors improve to 3-1 in conference play thanks to a 5-4 overtime win over nationally eight-ranked Lakehead and a come-from-behind 4-3 victory against York. The 5-foot-8, 170-pound freshman had his best outing of the young season against the Thunderwolves on Friday when he racked up two goals and a pair of assists, including the game-tying marker with 2:31 left in regulation and the winner 25 seconds into extra time. The former Barrie Colt was at it again on Saturday, scoring the game-winner with 51 seconds remaining in the third period as Waterloo erased a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Lions.

Mount Allison swimmer Mitchell Peters, McGill basketball player Adrian Hynes-Guery and UBC hockey player Justin McCrae were the other male nominees.
