First baseman Chris Colabello has rejected his minor-league assignment from the Toronto Blue Jays and is now a free agent.

Colabello, 33, enjoyed a breakout season with the Blue Jays in 2015, hitting a career-high 15 home runs and posting a .321 average in 101 games.

He appeared in only 10 games in 2016 before receiving an 80-game suspension for steriod use. After his suspension, he spent the remainder of the season in the minors.

Colabello cleared waivers on Sunday, meaning he could either accept his minor-league assignment or elect free agency. He chose the latter.

In 225 games with the Minnesota Twins and Blue Jays, Colabello owns 28 home runs, 111 RBI and a career .257 batting average.
