The Calgary Flames gave qualifying offers to four players Monday, leaving a few notable names without one.

The Flames announced Monday forwards Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan, and Freddie Hamilton and defenceman Tyler Wotherspoon received qualifying offers from the team with nine players not receiving offers, including forwards Joe Colborne, Josh Jooris, and goalie Joni Ortio.

The Flames are still negotiating a contract with Colborne after his career year (19 goals and 25 assists in 73 games) but didn’t extend an offer because Colborne is arbitration eligible. The Flames didn’t want to take a chance going to arbitration with the 26-year-old.

According to TSN’s Jermaine Franklin, that could also be the case with Jooris and Ortio.

Other Flames to not receive qualifying offers were forwards Ken Agostino, Bill Arnold, Turner Elson, Bryce Van Brabant, and Drew Shore, and goalie Kevin Poulin.
