The big surprise for me was not so much that Taylor Hall scored a hat-trick and was terrific in Tuesday's game, it was more that he hadn't done it already in the first two games of the tournament.
He's got tremendous hands, speed and power and showed off his shot on the second goal of the night. He also has great play-making ability, which is underrated much like John Tavares.
The real tenet of his game is speed and power. He takes a beating and plays a real hard game. He's got an excellent chance to go number one overall. It's not absolute slam dunk because Tyler Seguin is still very much in the mix, but it was a coming out party of sorts for Taylor Hall on Tuesday.
Back To Allen
Jake Allen is the number one goaltender for Canada and he is scheduled to play against the United States on New Year's Eve. That being said, Martin Jones came in and did a fantastic job on Tuesday.
He did give up the first two goals of the tournament, but of the 27 shots he faced, a lot of them had a high degree of difficulty and he really stood tall. The goals that were scored could not be faulted on Jones whatsoever but Allen will get the start on New Year's Eve and they'll take it from there.
