What is likely written in big, black, bold letters on the whiteboard inside the Dallas Stars dressing room is: "NOW WE HAVE A SERIES."
The Stars have proven that a team's mindset can improve dramatically and it certainly has in the past two games of this series. In Game 5, the Red Wings proved they are vulnerable in the series, as well.
Veteran Chris Chelios committed a terrible mistake with a bad line change that allowed Marty Turco to find Joel Lundqvist with the outlet pass. Lundqvist beat Chris Osgood high which proved to be the game winner. This was not a very good game by Chelios' lofty standards. However, it was more of the mindset change for the Dallas Stars to prove that they can beat this team.
Where are the Penguins?
The offensive stars for the Pittsburgh Penguins know they have to do a better job if they hope to eliminate the Flyers in Game 5.
Evgeni Malkin scored in the series opener and was dominant in that game, but he has not scored since. He has seven shots on net in the last three games after having 10 shots on net against the New York Rangers in Game 5 alone. Malkin knows he has got to be better.
As for Marian Hossa and Sidney Crosby, they too have to find a better way to finish. In the first period of Game 4, Hossa came in on a breakaway and he was not able to deliver. Do you criticize the play of Hossa or do you give credit to Martin Biron for coming up with a big save? It's six of one, half dozen of the other.
Pittsburgh has to find a way to get to Biron because he got his game back when the Flyers needed it most when they were facing elimination.
