Calling All Arms: Calvillo aiming for three-peat with Alouettes

Anthony Calvillo (Utah State, 18 years, 14 with Montreal) is healthy and poised to take a run at the unthinkable. That is surpassing the incredible number of 72,381 passing yards put up by the legendary Damon Allen. Hard to fathom! He needs 4,221 to do so, and that is certainly doable.

More importantly, the veteran quarterback has set his sights on a three-peat. He's lost a few key players that he's leaned on week in and week out in the past, but trust me when I say that Jim Popp has the horses to fill the void. He always has and rest assured that Calvillo will have the tools around him to take a run at Damon's number and the title for the 3rd year in a row.

Adrian McPherson (Florida State, 4th year) is champing at the bit to get more playing time outside of short yardage situations and when the Eastern Division is wrapped up and Calvillo sits down. McPherson is a legitimate starter in this league and is ready to take the reigns whenever AC calls it quits. He has produced when called upon and continues to grow and mature under the guidance of offensive coordinator Scott Milanovich and head coach Mark Trestman.

Ricky Santos (New Hampshire; 4th year in the league, 3rd with Als) is a gritty, hard-working quarterback that makes plays when given the opportunity. Santos is a fundamentally sound QB that needs some playing time.

Trying to crack the roster is Josh Neiswander (Angelo State, 1st year). Josh is not going to beat you in a foot race, but he has a quick release, strong arm, tremendous pocket presence, and he should be a great fit for the Als' offense.

Bottom Line: AC will be slinging it once again for the Als, making them the team to beat (as it should be); McPherson is riper than ripe; Santos and Neiswander are duking it out for clipboard duties.

Round 2 continues with San Jose's Dan Boyle taking on Kari Lehtonen of the Dallas Stars.
