Following the closest vote so far this year, Canadians across the country have named Fredericton the fifth winning community in this summer's Kraft Celebration Tour. As part of the Kraft Celebration Tour, Fredericton receives $25,000 to put towards the Fredericton Loyalist Rugby and Cricket Club's upgrade of their two existing fields and developing a third. Fredericton was named to the Kraft Celebration Tour after winning a national, head-to-head online vote over Salisbury, N.B. with 160,824 votes to Salisbury's 134,741.

Fredericton will also host a special edition of SportsCentre featuring anchors Rod Smith and Kate Beirness when they broadcast live from the New Brunswick community on Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 6pm et on TSN.

"The Fredericton Loyalist Rugby and Cricket Club is the kind of organization that the Kraft Celebration Tour is all about – a volunteer-driven organization that is engaged and active within the community," said Jack Hewitt, Vice-President, Marketing Insights and Services, Kraft Canada. "We're very pleased to help contribute to this great centre of sport, community, and recreation for the people of Fredericton."

Fredericton sits on the banks of the St. John River in southwestern New Brunswick and is rich in culture and riverside beauty. It was named the capital of New Brunswick in 1785, and is home to 56,000 people. Fredericton is also the birthplace of Willie O'Ree, who in 1958 became the first black player to play in the NHL.

The Loyalist Rugby and Cricket Club is a volunteer, non-profit organization that coordinates numerous rugby teams and a new cricket program, in addition to loaning the facilities out to school athletic programs and local charities. The $25,000 prize money from the Kraft Celebration Tour will go towards upgrading their two existing fields and developing a third one.
