(SportsNetwork.com) - Odrisamer Despaigne eyes a third straight win on Saturday when the San Diego Padres continue a three-game series with the San Francisco Giants at Petco Park.

After throwing seven scoreless innings to beat the Giants in his season debut, the Cuban defector was again marvelous on Sunday against Arizona, as he held the Diamondbacks to just a run and five hits in 6 2/3 innings.

"At this point in the year, we've seen practically everything. But he was just on," Giants right fielder Hunter Pence said after Despaigne's first start. "He was locating [well], he had the ball moving in a lot of different directions, he had a lot of different pitches. He threw me pretty much everything. I saw an extremely slow curveball, I saw a slider, I saw a cutter, I saw a sinker, I saw a sidearm sinker. He didn't really leave too much over the plate."

San Francisco will counter the 27-year-old righty with veteran Tim Hudson, who has lost his last three starts. Hudson pitched well in defeat on Sunday against Cincinnati, as he gave up two runs in eight innings, but still fell to 7-5 on the year to go along with a 2.59.

Hudson lost to the Padres two starts ago and is 7-3 lifetime versus them with a 2.93 ERA in 16 games (15 starts).

San Diego won its fifth straight game in Friday's opener, as Eric Stults pitched seven strong innings to lead the Padres to a 2-0 win.

Stults (3-11) scattered four hits and two walks while striking out six. He also broke a run of eight consecutive losses as he hadn't won a game since May 10.

"That's a good lineup you have over there and they have a lot of power," said San Diego manager Bud Black. "Stults did a good job of putting his pitches where he wanted them and keeping them off balance."

Alexi Amarista hit a solo home run and Chase Headley went 4-for-4 with an RBI in the win.

Matt Cain (1-7) was touched for both runs on seven hits over seven innings for the Giants, who have dropped three straight and seven of eight.

The only runs in this game came in the third inning. With one out, Amarista hit his second home run of the year. Two batters later, Seth Smith doubled and scored when Headley followed with a single to give the Padres a 2-0 lead. Headley was thrown out trying to reach second on the hit.

"I mixed in a couple of pitches that I'd like to have back and they changed the game," said Cain. "I certainly didn't want to hang that changeup there to Amarista and he tagged it."

San Diego has won six of its 10 matchups with the Giants this season.
