BURLINGTON, Ont. -- Nova Scotia's Mark Dacey remained in the hunt for first place in the round-robin with an 8-7 win over Ontario's Mark Bice at the Canadian mixed curling championship Thursday evening.

The loss drops Bice to 9-2, while Dacey's rink improved to 8-2 heading into its final round-robin game Friday. A victory over Northern Ontario's Jordan Chandler (3-7) would give Dacey an automatic berth into Sunday's final. A loss means Bice would finish first.

Manitoba's Dave Boehmer (7-3) remained in the hunt for a playoff berth, clinching at least a tiebreaker spot with a 5-4 victory over New Brunswick's Mary Jane McGuire (4-7). Boehmer sits tied for third place with B.C.'s Jason Montgomery.

Boehmer faces Saskatchewan's Jason Ackerman (5-5) in his round-robin finale Friday morning, while Montgomery battles Graham Powell of Alberta (5-5).

The second- and third-place teams will face off in a semifinal Saturday, with the winner advancing to Sunday's final.
