BURLINGTON, Ont. -- Mark Dacey of Nova Scotia captured his second Canadian mixed curling championship Saturday with a 7-5 win over Ontario's Mark Bice.
Dacey, who also won the 2002 title, earned his second win over Bice in three days. The first improved the Halifax skip to 9-2, earning him an automatic berth in the final.
The see-saw matchup Saturday saw the teams exchange the lead four times over the opening six ends. Bice, of Sarnia, Ont., earned a single point with the hammer in the sixth end to tie the game 5-5.
After a scoreless seventh, Dacey took the lead for good with a deuce in the eighth end. Bice blanked the ninth, but couldn't muster the two points needed in the 10th to force an extra end.
Dacey, lead Jill Mouzar, second Andrew Gibson and third Heather Smith-Dacey will represent Canada at the world mixed curling championships April 16-24 in Chelyabinsk, Russia.
