MONTREAL -- Nova Scotia's Brent MacDougall got off to a good start after having to qualify for the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship.
MacDougall cruised to a 9-3 victory over Robert Campbell of P.E.I. in the opening draw of the tournament Saturday.
Yukon skip Steve Fecteau also needed to qualify for the round robin, but he lost 9-5 to Quebec's Mike Fournier.
Meanwhile, B.C. skip Tom Buchy had no problem getting past Nick Saturnino of the Northwest Territories in a 10-3 win.
Saskatchewan's Jeff Hartung also got his first win after beating Manitoba's Terry McNamee 7-5.
