Quebec and Nova Scotia win at Canadian mixed playdowns

MONTREAL -- Nova Scotia and Quebec posted early victories Sunday to improve to 2-0 at the Canadian mixed curling championship.

Nova Scotia's Brent MacDougall guided his rink to a 9-3 rout of Yukon's Steve Fecteau while Quebec's Mike Fournier outscored Robert Campbell of Prince Edward Island 10-7.

In other early games at the Town of Mount Royal Curling Club, New Brunswick's James Grattan defeated Ontario's Cory Heggestad 8-3 and Northern Ontario's Mike Assad held off Alberta's Kurt Balderston 8-6.

B.C., New Brunswick, Northern Ontario and Saskatchewan are tied in third place at 1-0. Alberta, Manitoba, the Northwest Territories and Ontario are tied at 0-1 while P.E.I. and Yukon are at 0-2.

Two draws will be played later Sunday at the Town of Mount Royal Curling Club.
