SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. -- Ontario's Howard Rajala survived a tiebreaker and a semifinal match to advance to the final of the 2013 Canadian senior curling championships Saturday.

Rajala hammered P.E.I skip Rod MacDonald 10-1 in six ends in the tiebreaker, then beat Alberta's Wade White 11-5 in the semi.

Rajala will next face New Brunswick's Wayne Tallon in Sunday's final. Tallon earned an automatic berth after topping the round robin with a 10-1 record.

On the women's side, Alberta's Deb Santos moved into the final with a 10-4 victory over Manitoba's Lois Fowler in the semi.

Fowler had won a tiebreaker against Quebec's Catherine Derick 7-5 in 10 ends early Saturday before facing Santos.

Santos will play Colleen Pinkney of Nova Scotia, who went 10-1 in the round robin.
