OTTAWA - The Canadian Curling Association and World Curling Federation have extended their partnership on hosting world championships through the 2017-'18 season.

The existing rotation will continue for four additional years, the CCA announced Wednesday in a release.

Canada will host the men's world curling championship in 2015 and 2017 along with the world women's curling championship in 2016 and 2018. The 2013 men's event is being played this week in Victoria and the 2014 women's event is set for March 15-23 in Saint John, N.B.

"The extension of our partnership with the World Curling Federation will benefit curling fans in Canada and around the world," said CCA chief executive officer Greg Stremlaw. "This agreement is another sign that the CCA and WCF want to work together to continue building the sport of curling and showcase its top players in the best way possible on a global stage."

Under terms of the extension, the CCA and WCF will consult each other to determine the host cities for world events that are played in Canada.

The CCA will also own the presenting sponsorship position for world championships staged outside of Canada. The host committees for events in Canada will continue to receive a percentage of gross ticket sales.
