Australian Cadel Evans has officially withdrawn from the men's individual time trial cycling event at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Evans finished the 2012 Tour de France despite being ill through much of the race. He was unsure if he would recover in time to contest the Olympic road race and time trial.

Following the men's road race on Saturday, Evans was examined by team doctors, and determined to be “fatigued.” He is not expected to recover in time to contest the time trial, and as such, has withdrawn from the race.

The Australian cycling team will not replace Evans in the time trial. Michael Rogers is the lone Australian remaining on the entry list.

Evans was the 2011 Tour de France winner.
