Its Daniel Sedin night at Rogers Arena, as the veteran forward plays his 1000th National Hockey League game when the Vancouver Canucks (13-6-1) host the Chicago Blackhawks.  Sedin made his NHL debut in Philadelphia on October 5, 2000 and scored his first NHL goal in his third game in Tampa Bay (on Dan Cloutier) on October 8, 2000. He joins Trevor Linden (1140) and brother Henrik (1030) as the only players to suit up for 1,000 games in a Canucks uniform.

Henrik played in his 1,000th game in Winnipeg on March 12th - Daniel was injured and was not in the lineup that night. Henrik amassed 833 points in his first 1,000 games in the league. Daniel has 825 in his first 999.

The Canucks look to get back on track following Thursday's 4-3 shootout loss to Anaheim. Bo Horvat scored the first goal of his NHL career in the loss to the Ducks. Radim Vrbata and Jannik Hansen have both scored in their last two games.

Dan Hamhuis is expected to be out of action for a while after a lower-body injury on Thursday. In his absence, Alex Edler logged a season-high 32:24 of ice-time. Alex Burrows (upper body) will miss a second straight game.

In 14 of their 20 games so far this season, the Canucks have had at least three different players score a goal. It's been 11 games now (October 28th vs CAR) since the Canucks opened the scoring and went wire to wire to win a hockey game. Through 20 games, the Canucks have lost back to back games just once (vs TBL and DAL).

After a night off against Anaheim, Ryan Miller returns to the nets. He has not faced Chicago since last spring's playoffs when St. Louis took the first two games against the Blackhawks but dropped the final four of their opening round series. Four of the six games (two wins and two losses) required overtime.

The Hawks arrive here 24 hours after thumping the Oilers 7-1 in Edmonton. Marian Hossa led the way with 1+3=4 while Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Brandon Saad all had two points. In all, 14 of the Hawks skaters registered at least a point in the victory. With a huge lead and back to back games, Niklas Hjalmarsson (21:23) was the only Blackhawk to play more than 20 minutes last night.
Chicago has won three straight games for the first time this season and five of its last six.

Corey Crawford has started 10 straight games. His 1.90 GAA and and 92.8 per cent are both the best they have been in his five seasons as Hawks starter. Patrick Kane has scored a goal in four in a row and has 4+4=8 on a four game streak.

Rookie winger Philip Danault - the Hawks 2011 first round draft pick - made his NHL debut last night logging 11:13 of ice time.

The Hawks have surrendered the fewest 3rd period goals in the NHL (8) outscoring their opponents 22-8 in the final frame this season. They are 2nd to Detroit on the PK (91.0 per cent) just one-tenth of a percentage point behind the Wings. Only Pittsburgh has opened the scoring more often in its games this season than the Hawks who are 10-3 when scoring first.

The Hawks took the morning off and were not at Rogers Arena.
