Reyes hits three-run homer, leads Dickey, Blue Jays over Rays
Jose Reyes hit a three-run homer, R.A. Dickey gave up two hits in seven innings and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Tampa Bay Rays 8-2 Tuesday night. Reyes' ninth home run broke a 2-all in the fourth inning and sent the Blue Jays to their third straight win. Dickey (11-12) gave up two runs, struck out six and walked three. Roger Federer reached his 10th US Open quarterfinal in 11 years with a straight-set victory over Roberto Bautista Agut during Tuesday's action at the year's final Grand Slam tournament. The second-seeded Federer wasn't severely tested by the 17th-seeded Bautista Agut on a steamy night in New York City, with the Swiss legend posting a 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 win to keep alive his quest for a sixth U.S. Open title. The Denver Broncos will be without Wes Welker for the first four games of the season after the NFL said the receiver violated the league's performance-enhancing drug policy. News of Welker's ban didn't come down until late Tuesday, after the league offices had closed and the Broncos had already finished drawing up blueprints for their opener against Indianapolis, undoubtedly with Welker playing a prominent role.
