Valve is heading to unchartered territory in 2017.

Dota 2 is headed to the Ukraine in April 2017 for the Kiev Major, the marquee event’s first foray into the CIS region.

As with all other majors, $3 million in prizes is up for grabs with $1 million going to the winning squad.

Sixteen teams will compete at the event. The entrants consist of invitees and qualifiers. Open qualifiers will begin in March.

Manila Major producers PGL will be at the helm for the event’s return to Europe. The Frankfurt Major in November 2015 was the last time it was held in the continent.

The Kiev Major is the first major announced for 2017.

The Shanghai Major, Manila Major, The International 6 and Boston Major highlighted the dota 2 calendar in 2016.
