Flying North?

Count Anaheim Ducks defenceman Cam Fowler among the names who could find themselves on the move Friday.

The TSN Hockey Insiders Pierre LeBrun, Bob McKenzie and Darren Dreger all report multiple teams are interested in the 2010 first-round pick, including the Buffalo Sabres and Montreal Canadiens.

McKenzie notes, however, that the Sabres are not keen on giving up the eighth overall pick in tonight's draft in a deal.

Fowler is under contract for $4 million in each of the next two seasons. He scored five goals and added 23 assists in 69 games last season.

That’s 22, Not 2

While the Winnipeg Jets are unlikely to move the second overall pick in tonight’s draft, their second pick of the first round could be available.

Craig Custance of ESPN reports the No. 22 overall pick, which the Jets received from the Chicago Blackhawks in the Andrew Ladd is in play as the Jets look add depth to their roster.

Custance adds the Jets are interested in extending Mathieu Perreault, who can't sign until July 1.

Let’s Make A Deal

The Columbus Blue Jackets are continuing their push to re-sign Seth Jones before he hits restricted free agency on July.

ESPN’s Craig Custance reports the two sides are meeting today as they work on an extension.

twitter embed

Jones will be eligible to receive an offer sheet from any of the NHL’s 29 other clubs on July 1, which could be problematic for the cash-strapped Blue Jackets. A possibility TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger believes Jones’ camp would welcome.

The Blue Jackets acquired Jones,21, from the Nashville Predators during the season for Ryan Johansen. He scored three goals and added 28 assists in 81 games.

Sign one, move another?

The Florida Panthers officially signed Keith Yandle to a seven-year contract on Friday.

Now, the team could be moving a defenceman off their blueline.

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reports the Panthers have been receiving interest in Dmitry Kulikov.

Kulikov, 25, scored one goal and added 16 assists in 74 games with the Panthers this season.

The 2009 first-round pick is signed for one more season at $4.5 million.

Miami Herald writer George Richards predicted Kulikov could be shopped if Yandle was signed earlier this week.

From Blues to Blue Shirts?

Kevin Shattenkirk has been drawing interest from around the NHL and the New York Rangers are among the teams in pursuit.

The New York Daily considers the St. Louis Blues defenceman a perfect fit for the Rangers’ blueline, and a replacement for Keith Yandle.

Shattenkirk has one year left on his contract at $4.25 million and, with an extension unlikely, the Blues appear to be looking to the move the 27-year-old.

There is no shortage of teams looking to add Shattenkirk, a right-handed shot who can run a power play, and TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun tweeted on Thursday the Arizona Coyotes has also entered the sweepstakes.

One Last Talk

The Boston Bruins are making what appears to be their final pitch to pending free agent Loui Eriksson.

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reports the two sides are meeting Friday, likely for the final time before July 1.

twitter embed

Eriksson had 30 goals and 33 assists for 63 points in 82 games last season - the final year of a six-year, $25.5 million deal he signed with the Dallas Stars in 2010.

Eriksson was rumoured to be on the move at this year’s trade deadline, but ultimately stayed in Boston for the conclusion of the 2015-16 season.

The Vancouver Canucks are among the teams rumoured to be interested if the sniper hits the open market.

No Hurry

The Detroit Red Wings would like to move Pavel Datsyuk’s $7.5 million contract, but they’re not rushing to do so.

TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie reports the Red Wings are waiting to see whether or not they need the cap space before giving up an asset to move the contract.

twitter embed

The Red Wings are believed to be interested in signing Steven Stamkos should he hit the open market on July 1, an addition that would likely force them move Datsyuk’s cap hit.

If they fail to sign Stamkos, or another big name free agent, they will likely be able to stay under the cap despite Datsyuk’s hit.

First Out?

The Edmonton Oilers are known to be open for business this summer - the team has a league-high five assets on the TSN Trade Bait board - but one Oiler appears to top the list.

Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Sun counts Nail Yakupov as "Oilers forward who’s almost surely getting traded at the draft."

Yakupov has struggled to adjust to the NHL since being selected first overall in 2012. He posted career-lows in goals (eight) and points (23) in 60 games last season.

The 22-year-old has 50 career goals and 111 points in 252 NHL games.

He is under contract through next season at $2.5 million.

Wild World

The Minnesota Wild could be a busy team on Friday with a possible buyout and trades on the agenda.

The TSN Hockey Insider adds that the Wild may choose to take advantage of their surplus of young defencemen and make a hockey move to improve their forward depth.

Out of the Picture

The Colorado Avalanche picked up the phone in pursuit on Montreal Canadiens star P.K. Subban, but it doesn't appear the defenceman is Rocky Mountain bound.

McKenzie reported on Thursday night that the Avalanche believe they are out of the picture for Subban after talks with the Canadiens.

Subban has become the subject of trade rumours ahead of his no-move clause taking effect on July 1. He is set to make $9 million next season.

Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin said Thursday he was not shopping Subban, but could not stop teams from calling.

Not Ruling It Out

Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman confirmed on Thursday night that Vezina Trophy finalist Ben Bishop could be on the move.

Yzerman acknowledged he's had talks with teams who are interested in Bishop but did not give a timeframe on when a trade could take place, if one does at all.

LeBrun notes any deal involving a first-round pick would have to take place on Friday.

twitter embed

Dreger, however, notes the Lightning could wait to move Bishop until they have a better idea of their cap space.
