2014 NHL Draft Order

The following is the first round order for the 2014 NHL Draft.

The first 13 selections were determined by the reverse order of the NHL's overall standings with the first overall selection being determined by the 2014 NHL Draft Lottery. The remaining selections were determined by each team's performance in the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The 2014 NHL Draft will take place on June 27-28 in Philadelphia.

* - The Florida Panthers won the right to the first overall selection by winning the 2014 NHL Draft Lottery on April 15.

** - The New York Islanders announced that they will retain their first round selection in the 2014 NHL Draft and transfer their first round selection in the 2015 NHL Draft to the Buffalo Sabres. The selection was packaged in the team’s deal for Thomas Vanek on October 27, 2013.

*** - The Senators' first-round pick is property of the Anaheim Ducks, who acquired it in a trade for Bobby Ryan to Ottawa.

**** - The New Jersey Devils first-round pick will be 30th overall regardless of their final standing as penalty for cap circumvention in signing Ilya Kovalchuk. They were ineligible to receive the first overall pick via the Draft Lottery. They will receive the 11th pick in every subsequent round.
