11. Nikita Zadorov

Nikita Zadorov
Profile
2012-13 Team: London League: OHL
Position: Defence Height: 6'4"
DOB: Apr. 15, 1995 Weight: 200 lbs.
2012-13 Statistics
Team GP G A PTS +/-
London 63 6 19 25 +33
TSN Scout Craig Button:
Nikita is another of the 'big man' defence prospects. His skating base is very good and his stride is long and powerful and he's able to gain a lot of ice quickly. This allows him to be a threat offensively but it also makes it very difficult to gain an advantage on him defensively. He will play physical and he can be a significant physical presence in the game. He has good awareness with the puck and has a heavy shot that can make it very difficult for goaltenders to corral it. He has developed defensively where he recognizes the situation and makes very solid plays and is not using his skills to make up for mistakes but is using them to impact the game. He has the potential to be a top three defenceman in the NHL.

2012-13 Statistics
Team GP G A PTS +/-
Djurgardens 48 15 19 34 +10
TSN Scout Craig Button:
Can play all three forward positions. He's an excellent skater who has a free and easy stride and with excellent quickness and a change of pace is capable of keeping defenders on their heels. He can open up ice and space for himself with his skating and in traffic he has the ability to 'slice' through tight areas and with very good balance. He can be difficult to deter. Very smart with and without the puck and he is quick to see opportunity in all areas to take advantage. He has good puck skills and can make plays, can shoot, can hold puck and isn't a 'one trick pony'. He competes and will battle in every situation. Has steadily improved over the past two years and shows the potential to be a very good NHL player.

TSN Scout Craig Button:
A player who can play in any situation, on any line, at any position and will be productive in whatever role he is asked to play. Very smart and adaptable and whatever situation he's playing in, he understands what is required and can carry out those requirements. A very good skater with good quickness, agility and balance. He is a player who 'shows up' at the most critical times with key plays that help the team win. He uses his body to assert and to force his way into those hard areas where he knows he can make a difference. He always competes and will do whatever is necessary to help his team.

2012-13 Statistics
Team GP G A PTS +/-
Medcine Hat 64 37 49 86 -13
TSN Scout Craig Button:
Hunter is a very determined and competitive offensive player. He has very good skating ability with speed, quickness, change of pace, agility and excellent balance, which allows him to play in traffic and versus bigger players without being nullified. He's hungry to score and will pay the price to score and get to the scoring areas. He has very good hands and can beat goaltenders in a variety of ways and he is able to make those plays quickly and in tight areas. Recognizes offensive opportunities and he 'jumps' quickly when he sees the chance to take advantage and he does so with or without the puck. He plays with a competitive edge where he is simply not going to allow himself to be denied and he wants to be a difference maker in the game.

2012-13 Statistics
Team GP G A PTS +/-
Val d'Or 67 50 39 89 +21
TSN Scout Craig Button:
Anthony is a very gifted scorer. Excellent hands and he is able to handle the puck in traffic and in tight spots and get his shot to the net in a manner that makes it difficult for goaltenders. Can attack in multiple ways, skating and shooting in stride, in traffic around the net and in a 'post-up' position. He has goal scoring instincts and is very quick to recognize them and take advantage. Gets himself open at the right times and is a hard player to keep in check. He is smart and recognizes where the opportunities may present themselves and is capable of making plays which allows him to impact the game in multiple ways from an offensive standpoint. He has continually progressed and he is the type of player who can make a significant offensive contribution at the NHL level.

2012-13 Statistics
Team GP G A PTS +/-
Everett 63 6 25 31 -10
TSN Scout Craig Button:
A very athletic and talented rearguard that is getting better with each passing game. Skates very well and is solid in his positioning and very difficult to beat one-on-one. Good puck skills and passes very well from a defensive zone standpoint and effective on the offensive side with potential to improve. He uses his body effectively and will assert and compete very well in this area. Has good overall sense for the game and has shown the capability of taking on more challenges in his role.
Rankings:
Craig Button: No. 44 | NHL CS: No. 9 NAS | ISS: No. 35 | The Hockey News: No. 18 | McKeen's: No. 17

17. Samuel Morin

Samuel Morin

2012-13 Team: Rimouski League: QMJHL
Position: Defence Height: 6'6"
DOB: Jul. 12, 1995 Weight: 202 lbs.
2012-13 Statistics
Team GP G A PTS +/-
Rimouski 46 4 12 16 +10
TSN Scout Craig Button:
Samuel is obvious because of his size but what has become every bit as obvious is his ability to impact the game not only with that size but with an ever-improving skill set. Very good skater with mobility, balance and quickness. He's a very difficult player to break down with speed and he is able to use his skating to put opponents into disadvantageous positions. He reads the play well defensively and makes plays under pressure. He has good puck skills and he moves the puck cleanly and effectively. He will assert physically and has a territorial mindset and as he continues to mature, will have the ability to make it very unpleasant to play against him. Has continued to improve and shows the potential to be that big defenceman who is so coveted in the NHL.
Rankings:
Craig Button: No. 13 | NHL CS: No. 23 NAS | ISS: No. 32 | The Hockey News: No. 20 | McKeen's: No. 10

18. Curtis Lazar

Curtis Lazar

DOB: Feb. 2, 1995 Weight: 190 lbs.
2012-13 Statistics
Team GP G A PTS +/-
Edmonton 72 38 23 61 +25
TSN Scout Craig Button:
He is very good in traffic and he is a player who bears down in the scoring areas to get his opportunities. His skating is very good and he's a guy who can play at a high pace and tempo. He gets involved and will assert physically to win the puck and gain advantages. He is a good all-around player who finds a way to impact the game in many ways, even physically. Excellent hockey sense and he reads and anticipates the play very well which combined with his skill, makes him very hard to keep in check. Curtis may be the player who could take on multiple roles at the NHL level, either as a scoring winger or as a real solid two-way centre.
Rankings:
Craig Button: No. 32 | NHL CS: No. 20 NAS | ISS: No. 12 | The Hockey News: No. 9 | McKeen's: No. 12

Team GP RECORD GAA PCT SO
Halifax 55 45-5-2 2.35 0.909 2
TSN Scout Craig Button:
Zach is the type of goalie who wins games. He has excellent sense and awareness and understands the situation his team is in at any given moment and he responds with play that stymies opponents and buoys the confidence of his team. He is a morale booster for his team and a morale deflator for opposing teams. His skills are very good with lateral mobility and a very good positional approach to the game. He excels mentally in that he makes the saves when it matters and is outstanding at 'parking mistakes' and learning from them at the same time. He has all of the qualities of elite number one, workhorse goaltenders who help teams win... championships!

Craig Button: No. 7 | NHL CS: No. 1 NAG | ISS: No. 1 G | The Hockey News: No. 25 | McKeen's: No. 28

Team GP G A PTS +/-
Quebec 68 28 44 72 +11
TSN Scout Craig Button:
You may not find one exceptional aspect of his game but when you combine all of the elements in his game, you have a very strong player. He is smart, aware and understands the situation he is in at any given moment. He skates well and is able to create open ice for himself. Is capable of playing a skill game, a physical game and is very adaptable to the various challenges a game can present. Overall, he's a player who seems to be a prototypical NHL winger who can produce offensively but play in all situations.
