The Top 10

1. Nail Yakupov

Right Wing - Sarnia Sting (OHL)
Born: 6/10/93, Nizhnekamsk, RUS
5-11, 183 lbs.

Quick Notes: Took the OHL by storm with the Sarnia Sting last season. He scored 49 goals and 52 assists in 65 games, earning Rookie of the Year honours. He is the early top pick favourite on the draft board.

2. Mathew Dumba

Defence - Red Deer Rebels (WHL)
Born: 25/07/94, Calgary, AB
5-11, 175 lbs.

Quick Notes: Dumba was the WHL's Rookie of the Year in 2010-11, scoring 15 goals and 26 points in 62 games. He also captained Canada to gold at the Ivan Hlinka tournament in the Czech Republic.

3. Filip Forsberg

Left Wing - Leksands IF (SWE)
Born: 13/08/94, Stockholm, SWE
6-1, 196 lbs.

Quick Notes: As a 16-year-old on Leksand's U20 team, Forsberg scored 14 goals and 29 points in 26 games, tying him for fifth in league scoring. Was a big part of Sweden's U18 team, scoring six points in six games and helping the team to a silver medal.

4. Ryan Murray

Defence - Everett Silvertips (WHL)
Born: 27/09/93, White City, SK
6-0, 160 lbs.

Quick Notes: In 70 games with Everett last season, Murray had 6 goals and 40 assists. He was one of the final cuts from Canada's 2011 world junior team, despite being the youngest player invited to camp.

5. Alex Galchenyuk

Centre - Sarnia Sting (OHL)
Born: 12/02/94, Milwaukee, WI
6-1, 197 lbs.

Quick Notes: Galchenyuk finished with 31 goals and 83 points in 68 games last season, finishing third in OHL rookie goal scoring, and tying teammate Nail Yakupov in assists.

6. Mikhail Grigorenko

Centre - Quebec Remparts (QMJHL)
Born: 16/05/94, Khabarovsk, RUS
6-2, 183 lbs.

Quick Notes: Grigorenko played for CSKA-Krasnaja Armija Moskva in Russia's Minor Hockey League last season, scoring 17 goals and 18 assists in 43 games. He's taken his talents to North America this season, joining the Quebec Remparts in the QMJHL.

7. Morgan Rielly

Defence - Moose Jaw Warriors (WHL)
Born: 9/03/94, Vancouver, BC
6-0, 198 lbs.

Quick Notes: Rielly played for Canada this year at the U18s and Memorial of Ivan Hlinka this year and also participated in the NHL's Research and Development Camp over the summer. He had six goals and 22 assists in 65 games with Moose Jaw last season.

8. Nick Ebert

Defence - Windsor Spitfires (OHL)
Born: 11/05/94, Livingston, NJ
5-11, 199 lbs.

Quick Notes: Ebert had 11 goals and 41 points in 64 games with Windsor as a rookie last season and tallied three points in 18 playoff games.

9. Derrick Pouliot

Defence - Portland Winterhawks (WHL)
Born: 16/01/94, Weyburn, SK
5-11, 181 lbs.

Quick Notes: Entering his second full WHL campaign, Pouliot he had five goals and 30 points in 66 games with the Portland Winterhawks last year.

T-10. Matia Marcantuoni

Right Wing - Kitchener Rangers (OHL)
Born: 22/02/94, Toronto, ON
5-11, 191 lbs.

Quick Notes: Marcantuoni had 11 goals and 27 points in 42 games last season with the Rangers. He also won gold with Canada's Under-18 national hockey team in the summer.

T-10. Jacob Trouba

Defence - USA U-18
Born: 26/02/94, Rochester, MN
6-1, 193 lbs.

Quick Notes: Trouba played with the U.S. National Team Developmental program last season, splitting time between the USHL squad, the U17 and U18 teams.

Honourable Mentions

McKenzie: It should be noted that these prospects were close to cracking the Top 10. These players were just edged out but voting was tight.
