Lightning use the tenth pick of the draft on Koekkoek

The Tampa Bay Lightning selected the eighth defencemen in the first 10 picks of the 2012 NHL draft by taking Slater Koekkoek of the OHL's Peterborough Petes.

Koekkoek recorded 18 points (5-13) in 26 games in 2011-12 before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury in November.
