RED DEER, Alta. — Christian Dvorak scored three times and tacked on an assist as the London Knights hammered the Brandon Wheat Kings 9-1 on Monday at the 2016 Memorial Cup.

The victory guarantees the OHL champion Knights at least a spot in the tournament semifinal, while the WHL champion Wheat Kings have to beat the host Red Deer Rebels to keep their hopes alive.

Dvorak leads all skaters with five goals in two games after scoring a pair in London's opener.

Cliff Pu, Aaron Berisha, Matthew Tkachuk, JJ Piccinich, Max Jones and Daniel Bernhardt also scored for the Knights (2-0). Mitch Marner tacked on four assists while Olli Juolevi chipped in with three.

Stelio Mattheos kept the Wheat Kings (0-2) from being shut out.

Tyler Parsons made 23 saves for the London while Jordan Papirny kicked out 19-of-26 shots in two periods of work for Brandon. Papirny was replaced at the beginning of the third by Logan Thompson.

Brendan Burke was brought in for Parsons with 13 minutes to play in the third, giving the starter some rest with the score already out of hand.

The Knights went 4 for 7 on the power play while the Wheat Kings scored once on five chances with the man advantage.

London opened the scoring on the power play when Tkachuk made a cross-crease feed to Dvorak, who put the puck over a sprawled out Papirny just four minutes into the game.

Cliff Pu made it 2-0 for the Knights at 12:10 of the first when he put home a rebound off a shot from Jones, who beat his defender to the outside before getting stopped by Papirny.

Reid Duke didn't help his team's cause by taking a double minor for high sticking. Brandon killed off the first two minutes but Berisha was fed in the slot by Jones and he put the puck into a wide open net with 5:24 remaining in the period.

Tkachuk, sent in alone by Marner, beat Papirny on a breakaway with 30 seconds left on the clock for a 4-0 lead heading into first intermission.

Parsons wasn't tested much in the opening 20 minutes but made a pretty glove save when Tim McGauley got in alone on a breakaway.

Piccinich made it a 5-0 game 4:30 into the second, working a give-and-go with Chandler Yakimowicz.

Matheos put Brandon on the board at 6:26 of the second, cashing in on a rebound out front of Parsons while on the power play.

Dvorak made it 6-1 with a power-play goal midway through the second. He roofed a cross-ice feed from Marner over the shoulder of Papirny.

Jones added another for London at 18:16, leading to a goaltender change to start the third period.

Thompson didn't fare much better than Papirny early as Dvorak completed his hat trick just 43 seconds into the period, with Marner picking up his fourth assist of the game.

Bernhardt added another power-play goal for London soon after to make it 9-1.

Notes: The QMJHL Champion Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (1-1) will face London on Tuesday. Brandon will play Red Deer (1-1) Wednesday to wrap up round-robin play.
