Frankie Edgar may have lost his shot at the featherweight title, but he’ll return with a chance to perform close to home.  Edgar will face Cub Swanson at UFC Fight Night Atlantic City on April 21.

Edgar was scheduled to face featherweight champion Max Holloway at UFC 222, however the title holder was forced out of the bout with an injury.  Brian Ortega stepped in an faced Edgar on the same card and defeated him via first-round KO.

The loss snapped a two fight winning streak for Edgar as he held wins over Jeremy Stephens and Yair Rodríguez.

The 36-year-old is no stranger to UFC titles or title fights having already held and defended the lightweight championship as well as previously fought for both the featherweight and interim featherweight belts.

He’s also no stranger to Swanson, as the pair previously met at Fight Night Austin in November of 2014, where Edgar was victorious with a fifth-round neck crank submission.

Swanson enters off a loss to Ortega at Fight Night Fresno but previously had captured four fights in a row, with victories over Hacran Dias, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Doo Ho Choi and Artem Lobov.

The 34-year-old is 25-8 over his MMA career.

The Atlantic City event will take place at Boardwalk Hall.
