The Edmonton Eskimos have hired former BC Lions head coach Mike Benevides as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator.

Benevides was head coach of the Lions from 2012-14 and with the team in various roles since 2003. The Toronto native also spent time with the Calgary Stampeders as a coach and director of Canadian scouting.

Benevides spent last year broadcasting with TSN.
