Denver, CO (Sports Network) - The Colorado Rockies placed shortstop Troy Tulowitzki on the 15-day disabled list Saturday -- retroactive to April 30 -- with a torn left quadriceps tendon.
The Denver Post reported Thursday that Tulowitzki told teammates he would miss four-to-eight weeks with the injury, which he sustained on Tuesday night in San Francisco. Tulowitzki left in the first inning after charging a ground ball.
The 23-year-old Tulowitzki is in the midst of a season-long slump, hitting just .152 with one home run and 11 runs batted in 26 games. He signed a six-year contract in the offseason after hitting .291 with 24 home runs and 99 runs batted in for Colorado in 2007.
Pitcher Jorge De La Rosa, who was acquired from Kansas City for a player to be named later on Wednesday, was selected to take Tulowitzki's spot on Colorado's 25-man roster.
