The addition of forward Olli Jokinen will help the Calgary Flames offset the loss of veteran Todd Bertuzzi.
On Wednesday, general manager Darryl Sutter announced that Bertuzzi had arthroscopic knee surgery earlier in the week and is expected to be out of the line-up for a month.
"It was better to go in and get it cleaned up and ready to go," Sutter told reporters.
Bertuzzi, 34, has 15 goals and 28 assists over his 57 games this season.
The Flames were active at the deadline picking up Jokinen from the Phoenix Coyotes and defenceman Jordan Leopold from the Colorado Avalanche.
