Just a few weeks after launching, FaZe Clan has confirmed an IGN report that it is backing out of the World Esports Association.

FaZe was one of the founding members of WESA, along with fellow esports organizations G2 Esports, Team EnVyUs, Fnatic, Ninjas in Pyjamas, mousesports, Natus Vincere and Virtus.pro, and event organizer ESL, but has quickly change it’s tune on the association.

"We feel that WESA still has lots of challenges to overcome and we feel that right now it's not the best place for us to be," the team said in a statement.

In a separate statement to ESPN, FaZe voiced further concerns about the new organization and believes WESA “lacks transparency.”

WESA responded with a statement of their own, expressing their regret that FaZe would be leaving so soon.

"Creating an association such as WESA from the ground up is an immense undertaking for all involved parties and something that requires enormous commitment of time and effort," the statement read. "While we regret the fact that FaZe has decided to take this step and are disappointed to see them go, we understand and accept their decision to put their current focus elsewhere."
