The NFL season is upon us and that means one thing for all football fans from Summerside, PEI to Maple Ridge, BC - fantasy football. If you're a newcomer to the competitive world of fantasy sports, here are five reasons why you should sign up for TSN's NFL Fantasy Football, presented by Coors Light.

1. Become the fantasy guru of your office

Anybody who has an office job knows that certain days (or every single, mind-numbing, life-sucking day for that matter) can get a little boring. You have the same routine with the same people and are counting down the minutes until 5 p.m. rolls around. So, why not entertain yourself a bit with same Fantasy Football?

In order to have a successful Fantasy Football team, you must put the hours in:

- You have to prepare for the draft, the most important part of any Fantasy Football season.

- You have to keep an eye on the waiver wire for any players that could make an impact on your team.

- You have to put considerable time in making decisions on who to start or sit during a given week. Do I go with Drew Brees against the Packers or Peyton Manning against the Patriots?

- You have to talk to the other managers in your league about trade possibilities. Because the perfect trade might send you straight to a league championship; though it could also take you to the basement.

At the end of the day, Fantasy Football is going to take some time, so why not make it company time? And if you’re leading your league after a few weeks, you will instantly become your office's FANTASY GURU, giving you the right to hand out free (or not free) fantasy advice to all your co-workers (if you so desire). Along with the title of FANTASY GURU, comes bragging rights which can boost the morale of any office lacking some fun.

2. Improve your football IQ

Keeping your Fantasy Football team up to date might be stressful, but your football knowledge will increase at quite a rapid rate.

Here are some articles to get you started, thanks in large part to TSN's Fantasy Expert Scott Cullen.

3. Get clever and Punny with team names

The key to any good Fantasy Football team is a good, punny name. Yes, you could go with your favourite team or your own last name, but doesn't that seem just a little lame? Think about something that's both witty and original.

Here are some examples to help get you started down the right path.

Fantasy Football Names

Name Reference
Teach me how to Dougie  Doug Martin
 The Walking Dez  Dez Bryant
 Saved by Le’Bell Le'Veon Bell
50 Shades of Jay  Jay Cutler
 Stafford Infection Matthew Stafford

4. Make new friends

Cabbie

If you can't find a league within your own group of friends, just join a public one and make new friends! Think about it. You could be playing with someone from Japan, Sweden or even Iceland. That's right Iceland! Trade negotiations might be tough if there's a language barrier, but that's half the fun isn't it?

5. Win crazy bets with your friends

The most compelling thing about playing with your friends or family is what you can put on the line. Playing for money is something a lot of people might do, but there are a ton of other fun things to bet on. Here are some examples.

- Losers have to help wash the winner's car out in public in just their underpants.

- Losers have to wear the jersey of the winner's favourite football team out to the bar.

- Winner gets to choose the restaurant for a full month.

- Loser has to sing Britney Spears' "...Baby One More Time," in the middle of a busy street.

- Loser has to be the winner's personal butler for a week.

Bonus - You now can pick this guy in your Draft
